As the countdown begins to the opening of the new school site in Alvechurch, Worcestershire County Council has released details of the new community library based there.

The current library on Tanyard Lane is to close at 5.30pm on March 15 and the doors to the new library on the Birmingham Road are set to open at 2.30pm on April 3.

The new venue will offer a range of extra facilities, including a meeting room that can be used by the library’s readers’ groups or hired out by residents.

Coun Philip Gretton, the county council’s cabinet member for adult and community services, said: “We are delighted to be opening the new library in Alvechurch. It will be a real asset to the village and the surrounding community.”

The opening hours for the new community library will be the same as the current library.
