Orchestra’s choral concert

Charlotte and Lucy

The Orchestra of St John, conducted by Richard Jenkinson, had a very successful first year in 2012, with an orchestral concert, a choral concert and a MusicFest.

Buoyed by growing support, the Orchestra launches into 2013 with another choral concert on Sunday March 10. This will feature Fauré’s Requiem, with the Orchestra of St John Chorus taking centre stage.

The Chorus is based around the choir at St John’s Church in Bromsgrove, with other talented singers from around the local area invited to swell the ranks, including many from the CBSO Chorus. They will perform the Fauré Requiem, with the famous Pie Jesu being performed by Lucy Sapwell, a chorister at St John’s.

The first work in the programme is Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, in which the orchestra will be joined by Charlotte Moseley as the violin soloist.

Charlotte has given many recitals in St John’s in recent years and is looking forward to her first concerto performance in this wonderful acoustic. Charlotte is a former pupil of the renowned Chethams School of Music and is currently studying violin at the Royal Northern College of Music.

One of the aims of the Orchestra of St John is to encourage talented young musicians from this area, and they hope that people from the local area will support Charlotte and Lucy in the concert at St John’s Church, Bromsgrove at 7.30pm.

Tickets £10 including programme and refreshments, and all accompanied school-age children go free.
