MP Julie Kirkbride joined Lickey and Blackwell parish councillors and volunteers at the launch of an initiative to create a record of habitat, species and archaeology in the parish.

Speakers included historian George Gascoyne of Lickey Hills Local History Society; Becky Lashley, ancient tree officer; Pat Orwin, botanist; and Rose Parker from Habitat Mapping at Worcestershire County Council.

After a field trip to nearby High House Wood, a conservation area, the audience were treated to a poem written for the occasion by parish poet Spoz who talked of his boyhood love of the Lickey Hills.
