Real ale on sale

Toby Smith

Toby Smith (above) and his father, Dave, have taken over the former Nag’s Head in Studley, renamed The Victoria Works, and are devoting it to real ale.

Most of it will be brewed by them at their Weatheroak Ales brewery only yards away over the road, although they will also be keeping two guest ales.

“It’s always been a dream to have our own pub where we can serve our beers,” said Toby.

Weatheroak Ales began supplying beer in 1998 from Weatheroak Hill before opening a shop in Alvechurch and then shifting the brewing operation to the former Victoria Works in Studley three years ago.

The Alvechurch shop has now closed, with all the same services being offered in Studley.

Weatheroak Ales will continue to supply its popular beers to many of the pubs in this area.
