Ringing for 200

Posted on December 23 2015 at 11:22:43

Bell ringers

Bell ringers at St Laurence Church, Alvechurch, help to celebrate 200 years since the official opening of the Worcester & Birmingham Canal by joining in a peal of bells along the canal’s length.

Arranged by The Worcester-Birmingham and Droitwich Canals Society in conjunction with the Canal and River Trust, the event also saw church bells rung at St Nicholas, Kings Norton; St Mary’s, Hanbury, and Worcester Cathedral, just as bells rang along the length of the canal when it opened on December 5 1815.
