School set to expand

Blackwell First School could be set for expansion under new plans by Worcestershire County Council.

The authority needs to find 210 extra primary school places in the county by next September, on top of a 1,300 increase planned between 2013/14 and 2015/16.

A feasibility study on the school proposed a three-class extension. Blackwell was also chosen thanks to its “outstanding” Ofsted rating.

Headteacher Anna Moss said: “We currently have 22 reception places and we have been oversubscribed for a number of years.

“These changes take the number of places to 30, which will ensure the long-term viability of the school.”
