Walkers on the canal

Members and Friends of Blackwell Club, some in their seventies, took to the towpath for the seventh annual Blackwell Challenge, on the seventh day of the seventh month, 2007.

Hoping to raise funds to add to more than £77,000 raised by the previous six challenges, 41 people took part. Unlike earlier events, which have been long-distance cycle rides, this year’s challenge took the form of a walk along the Worcester and Birmingham Canal.

A party of 20 walkers tackled the full 20 miles from Worcester Cathedral back to Blackwell and 21 joined for the second half. All were raising money for Edwards Trust, Clic Cancer Care for Children and The County Air Ambulance, the three charities supported by the Club.

Blackwell Scouts provided welcome support with tea and biscuits along the route.
