Beelzebub and the Grim Reaper

Beelzebub (aka Bob Salmon) gives the Grim Reaper what-for during the Alvechurch Morris’s annual Mummers play at the Crown Inn, Withybed Green.

Employing characters from medieval days, Alvechurch Morris entertained the New Year’s Day crowd at The Crown Inn, Withybed Green, with support from more modern characters such as “Prince Harry” and a disc-losing official from a government department.

A collection raised more than £250, which was donated to the St Laurence Bell Fund.

A Morris spokesman said: “We would like to thank all who contributed to the Mummers Play collection.

“The Morris Men are also grateful to Dave and Tricia Fisher at The Crown, caterer Angie Rigby and all at Alvechurch Social Club for their help and support during the day.”

Geoff Franklyn of Alve-church Bellringers added his thanks for the villagers’ generosity.
