The Lickey Hills hosted a movie set for a week when acting stars arrived from around Britain to help create a charity movie.

Called Waiting in Rhyme, it is set in a doctor’s waiting room and each character speaks in poetry.

It was filmed at Hillscourt Conference Centre and stars Les Dennis, John Alderton, and Barnt Green-born Susan Jameson – who currently appears in TV’s New Tricks alongside husband James Bolam.

Other stars who took part included Coronation Street’s Sally Lindsay, Geoffrey Hughes – better known as Onslow – Dani Harmer, who plays TV’s Tracy Beaker, Judi Dench’s daughter Finty Williams and Charlie Green from Britain’s Got Talent.

The film’s producer Martin Nigel Davey, of Rednal, said Les Dennis, playing a man waiting to find out his cancer results, gave a very powerful performance. “When he had finished filming he got applause from all the film crew and on-set guests.”

Martin (pictured above with Dani Harmer) was joined again by director Kevin Powis, with whom he made Expresso last year, for which Sir Norman Wisdom came out of retirement to take part.
This time they also worked with well-known Rednal poet Spoz.

The new 20-minute film will be out to buy in December with all profits going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
