They want YOU! (to get involved)

Posted on February 03 2010 at 12:00:12

Bromsgrove District residents are being asked for their views to investigate how the Council can encourage more people to get involved in local democracy.
An Overview and Scrutiny Task Group has been set up to consider the ways in which the Council promotes local democracy, the role of councillors, how to become a councillor, and the activities of councillors. The Task Group will also consider how to encourage more people to register to vote and turn out in elections.
As part of its investigation, the Task Group wants to hear from local people to get their views.
Task Group Chairman Cllr Les Turner said: “Exercising the right to vote, understanding and getting involved in the democratic process are important aspects of our rights and responsibilities as citizens in a democracy.
“We want people to understand how the Council works, what Councillors do and how residents can exercise their democratic rights to vote and get involved in the democratic process.”
