‘Unitary’ initiative falls on deaf ears

Bromsgrove councillors rejected a motion to discuss the idea of replacing the county and district councils with one “unitary” authority.

The motion was brought by Barnt Green and Alvechurch independent councillor Charlie Hotham, who fears for the future of the county as its money runs out.

But fellow independent Kate Van Der Plank told Alvechurch parish councillors: “It wasn’t supported by other groups on the council, which is disappointing because the motion was just to investigate it.”
