Victorian picnic

Roll up, roll up and sample life from a bygone era at Avoncroft Museum’s Victorian Fair over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

On Sunday August 25 and Monday 26, you can meet a range of characters and join in Victorian-themed activities.

Step back in time and experience all the fun of a Victorian Fair with traditional attractions including swing boats, coconut shies and a “test-your-strength” hammer.

The whole family can take part in a traditional school lesson, travel in style in a Victorian carriage or watch the lively goings-on of an old-fashioned gin shop.  There will also be magic lantern displays, a Punch & Judy show and music.

Try your hand at making corn dollies or simply watch craftspeople such as lace-makers and blacksmiths demonstrate their skills. Take a break and enjoy the range of Victorian-themed refreshments, traditional sweets or honey from Avoncroft Museum’s own beehives.

Opening hours are 10.30am to 5pm each day. Entry to the Museum for the Victorian Fair costs £7.70 for adults, seniors are £6.60, children £4, a family ticket (2 adults and 3 children) is £19.80 and members are admitted free.

Avoncroft Museum is two miles south of Bromsgrove off the A38 and signposted from junction four and junction five off the M5 and junction one of the M42. For detailed directions please visit http://www.avoncroft.org.uk or put B60 4JR into your sat nav.
