Police have issued these pictures of graffiti “tags” in an attempt to track down vandals who have been leaving their marks around Barnt Green and Blackwell.

Around 10 spots have been hit in the villages, including fences, telephone boxes, road signs, motorway bridges and the sides of shops.

The distinctive signatures can be used to identify offenders and police are checking the “tags” against databases and making inquiries at local schools.

Sgt Nick Husbands, of Bromsgrove North Police, said: “Tagging, as it is sometimes known, is criminal damage and can cost thousands of pounds to remove.

“Graffiti is not only unsightly but it gives an area a general look of neglect and adds to the fear of crime.”

Police say the offenders may have left evidence on clothing or keep spray cans in bedrooms or school lockers, and are appealing to parents and teachers to be vigilant.
