Village sport, curry and song for charity

Posted on January 27 2011 at 12:33:11

Dougie and Amelia Brown

Cricketer Dougie Brown and his singer wife Amelia are hosting two charity fundraisers at village venues.

The Finstall couple, already training hard for this year’s London Marathon in April, are holding a curry night in Barnt Green and a karaoke night in Lickey.

Dougie, a former Warwickshire, England and Scotland cricketer, now coaches at Warwickshire and is a regular commentator on Radio Five and Sky – as well as captaining Barnt Green 1st Team during the summer.

Meanwhile, Amelia, a trained classical singer, is busy preparing for her album, Rock Diva, coming out in March with her classical crossover group, Elysium III.

They are raising money for two charities, the British and Irish rugby children’s charity Wooden Spoon and Cure Leukaemia.

The Sporting Curry Night takes place at the Deedar Indian Restaurant in Barnt Green on Tuesday 8th March. Ashley Giles and Darren Purse will also be supporting this event and tickets are selling out fast.

A musical extravaganza/karaoke night takes place on Friday 20th May at the Old Rose and Crown Hotel on Rose Hill, Lickey.

Both events are tickets only.  For more information on how to book, call Cathryn on 07738 078008 or if you wish to make a donation to Dougie and Amelia’s fundraising challenge you can do so on their justgiving fundraising page – http://www.justgiving.com/Dougie-amp-Amelia-Brown
