Your chance to shape your village

Moves to create a Neighbourhood Plan for Alvechurch have been gathering pace in the New Year.

A steering group has been formed and has started to recruit volunteers to look at various ways villagers might like to see the parish evolve.

A spokesman told The Village: “The Alvechurch community has an exciting opportunity to shape our own future, and guide land use and development in the area over the next ten years or so.

“The Steering Group aims to work with the whole community to develop the Neighbourhood Plan for our parish area.”

The group’s second meeting took place at The Lounge last month with two new members joining.

Terms of Reference were finalised as was the process for governing and running the various groups that will be needed.

An organisation structure process was set out, involving volunteers who are urged to join Topic Groups running with the assistance and advice of the Steering Group.

The Topic Groups cover:  Environment, Community, Economy and Transport & Infrastructure.

To find out more about the plan, including its scope, why it is important to be involved, who is driving its preparation, how you can contribute, how to join a Topic Group or the Steering Group, or to just give an opinion or advice, contact Alvechurch Parish Council.

“Your involvement is vital to make it your Neighbourhood Plan,” said the spokesman.
