A ‘buddy’ after diagnosis

Posted on February 21 2014 at 11:28:12

Across the county there is a new Macmillan initiative, the Macmillan Worcestershire Buddy Service.

This service is volunteer-led, providing practical and emotional support across the county for anyone who is affected by a cancer diagnosis, including carers and family members.

Many people struggle to cope with the physical, practical and emotional effects of a cancer diagnosis; it can leave them feeling very isolated, sometimes unable to perform essential tasks.

The volunteers at the service can make a huge difference. Help will be tailored to individual needs but might include light gardening, shopping, preparing a light meal, having a chat over a cup of tea, or support over the phone.

If you prefer, you can ask your cancer nurse specialist, health professional or cancer information centre to contract us on your behalf. We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

You can get in touch on 07764 503475 or 07583 555282 or via email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
