Better buses request

Posted on February 28 2018 at 12:39:07

We have heard a lot recently about the state of the car park at Alvechurch railway station.

It is pretty appalling (even though it is sizeable and free), but where are people driving all those cars from to catch the train?

No doubt many car users actually live within walking distance of the station and some drive across from the Barnt Green area, avoiding paying.

I do support people using public transport and would like to see many more doing so. This is a call to our local councillors to fight for improved bus services in the village.

People don’t need to “park and ride” to use the bus, but currently our primary service, the 146, provides a 17.45 last bus from Redditch, 19.15 last bus from Birmingham and no Sunday service at all.

Perhaps the 12-month absence of glass in the bus shelter at Old Rectory Lane, since it was vandalised, is an indication of the lack of priority given to bus users by our local councils?
