Closing junction is not solution

Posted on September 30 2019 at 1:59:08

I don’t agree with Steve Smith and his proposals that Ten Ashes Lane be closed at the junction with Barnt Green Road.

However, traffic calming and a 20mph limit are needed. I have written to our local MP, the Rt Hon Sajid Javid, Chancellor of the Exchequer – when I receive a response, you will all be the first to know.

I agree that Ten Ashes is steep. I used to race down there on my cycle during school days; great fun but, now wiser, I fully accept it’s not much fun for local residents.

We have to consider delivery agents such as Royal Mail and the utilities. They need to have unobstructed access to Ten Ashes Lane and Lickey Coppice.

Also, when engineering work is carried out and Groveley Lane closed, a temporary route may be needed down Ten Ashes Lane to access Barnt Green Road.
