Floral inspiration

Posted on September 30 2019 at 1:53:08

What a charming and interesting article, Flowers for the future, by Mary Green in your September magazine.

Spurred on by the lovely wild flower bank at Alvechurch station, I made a bed this year and was well rewarded by the butterflies and bees that came to visit. So much so that I am making another next year.

There are three plants in my garden that are still attracting bees and butterflies.

They are lemon thyme, scabia and valerian. These have been in flower all summer and all the insects love them. If I see a plant that has bees or butterflies on it, I buy it from the garden centre.
