Mission memories

Posted on June 28 2010 at 4:25:55

Having recently moved into this area, we acquired a small piece of land which is described as having been the home of Hopwood Mission Church.

It stood for 100 years and was demolished and deconsecrated in the 1960s. The foundations are still clearly visible. (It had links with Hopwood School for Ladies and The Ecclesiastical Commissioners).

We wonder if there is anyone locally able to give us any insight into the life of the church, before its demolition? We have several pictures of the chapel‚ but as practising Christians we would love to know more of its history. Maybe some of your readers worshipped there – we would be very pleased to hear from them via your office. Thank you.

JG Eagles, Hopwood
