Planning laws are ‘undemocratic’
Posted on November 30 2018 at 9:54:55
The current planning laws are grossly undemocratic, and our local councils should be ashamed that they participate in the implementation of them.
Simply put, providing houses is a “quick buck“ business, and hence the well-heeled developers win – and the mortgage-paying objectors lose.
We do not need intermediaries, such as councillors and planners, to tell us what we need or should have; we know already, and every multi-unit application, in order to succeed, should require parish council approval – with the full cost of appeals borne by the applicant.
Thus “Barntchurch“ would be decided by Alvechurch and Barnt Green Parish Councils, alone, and/or a local referendum – that’s democracy.
