Raising the roof!

Posted on June 25 2007 at 10:19:04

This February we launched an appeal to raise £40,000 which, in addition to money already raised, we needed to replace the roof of St Michael’s Church in Cofton Hackett, and to repair and redecorate the interior.

The Village magazine kindly publicised the appeal in the March edition.

I am writing to let you know that the work is now complete, and the church looks better than it has for many years. What is more, the appeal more than reached its target!

To date, just over £50,000 has been raised, which means not only is the recent work paid for, but several other jobs which we had deferred can be carried out too. For instance, we have already undertaken repairs to the organ, and plan to replace the drains around the church in the autumn.

We guarantee that all money given for St Michael’s will be used there, now or in the near future.

I would like to thank everyone who has made a donation, large or small. I hope that you will come and see what has been done, either in our regular morning or evening services, or on Sunday afternoons when the church is open for visitors (2.30-4.30pm, April to September).

There is also an Open Day on Sunday August 12th, 11am to 5pm, when refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome.

Once again, a big thank you to everyone who contributed to the restoration of this beautiful medieval church, which we trust will continue to be a focus for prayer and outreach in our community for many years to come.

Thanks also to The Village magazine for helping publicise the appeal.

Rev Rob Fieldson, Barnt Green
