In Full . . .

Should we carry a shovel?

Posted on September 23 2007 at 11:47:33

As a horse rider myself I wish to inform the disgruntled road tax payer that it is near impossible to ride “across the fields” as they put it.

To ride across a field, there has to be a designated bridlepath that runs across said field, and there (unfortunately) are few of these in the area.

Also, for your comment about not cleaning up after horses when they excrete on the roads, what do you expect us to do – carry a shovel around on the back of a horse?

Finally, I would like to say that riders are only too happy to let cars come past if they do so in a calm and orderly manner.

I hope that my letter has helped you to see that horse riders really do have to use the roads in order to get a change of scenery that is important in every horse’s training.
