Spanner in the works

Around 18 months ago you published an article on Dave Hodgins, formerly a specialist trained Audi mechanic, who had set up his own business (as a mechanic) in Alvechurch, along with his dog.

As I result of the article I made contact with Dave with a view to looking after my family’s cars (an Audi and a 4x4), which he has done since, along with a number of friends’ cars following my recommendation.

I called last week to arrange a service and MOT, to be answered by a very downhearted Dave. Unfortunately he has been asked to leave the unit he has been leasing alongside the canal – and has spent many hours and expense in converting into a very respectable ‘local cottage business’.

It seems very sad when a customer-focused individual such as Dave sees his hard work lost through no fault of his own.

I wonder if any reader has a suitable unit/barn that could be leased to allow Dave to maintain his service to the community?
