Thanks to those who supported Plan

Posted on October 31 2017 at 11:14:13

A sincere thank you from Alvechurch Parish Council to all who contributed to the Neighbourhood Plan displays at the Baptist Church in October; an event which launched the final six-week consultation before the Plan is submitted.

The Village magazine led the way with an excellent centrefold highlighting the event. The Baptist Church was the ideal location and the trustees were hugely supportive.

Finally, a big thank you for the superb response from local people. More than 200 came to see the displays, read the draft Plan and tell councillors and the Steering Group their thoughts.

Not every comment was complimentary; some were seeking a clearer way forward than APC or the Neighbourhood Planning process is able to give.

Many, however, were supportive and realised the effort that has gone in and the complexities of some of the issues.

These comments are now being assessed and many more will be added during the full consultation period. Statutory consultees like the Environment Agency will make their comments, as will organisations such as the Canal & River Trust, our police force, Network Rail and a range of local organisations. All will be valuable and taken into account.

The consultation itself continues until Friday November 17 and there will be more opportunities to see the NP displays and ask councillors questions. Posters and social media will give more details.

Don’t forget that the draft Plan and comments form can be downloaded from both the parish council and Neighbourhood Plan website, and hard copies can be viewed at Alvechurch Library and the parish office.

Some topics have already generated great interest: the scale and location of future housing, potential improvements in Alvechurch village centre and community health arrangements.

Your views on these and other topics are important as these issues are complex and in areas where the council needs to understand community-wide feelings.

While comments about current parish issues are helpful, the Plan as a whole is more about a vision for Alvechurch parish over the next 15 years.

Thank you again to everyone who supports the parish council and its efforts with our Neighbourhood Plan.

Andy Humphries, Chairman, Alvechurch Parish Council
