In Full . . .

We want a peaceful life

On the Alvechurch Neighbourhood Plan website, I have just read the “shared vision” for Alvechurch and found it bears no relation to what is really happening to the fabric of our so-called rural area and Green Belt.

I emphasise and quote the paragraph: “We will constantly monitor transport, safety and service issues to ensure Alvechurch is a safe place to live.”

If they are monitoring transport, they will have noticed that there has been a massive increase of 40-ton lorries and other industrial types of transport entering the restricted 7.5-ton zone on the A441 Lye Bridge side of Alvechurch, constantly using the council yard near the bridge.

Obviously someone has allowed this damaging increase of use, to the detriment of the future of Alvechurch village and life as we knew it.

These lorries and their operatives operate all hours, day and night and even on Sundays, causing havoc to our way of life, with excessive noise and dust pollution which is unhealthy and dangerous.

Over the past two years or so, there has been correspondence sent to various councillors, but to no avail. The problem just grows.

This type of business should not be allowed within Green Belt residential areas, but should be designated for industrial estates – there are plenty of them in and around Redditch.

I and my neighbours would like to see a plan to eradicate this blight on our lives and reinstate the peaceful environment we have a right to enjoy.
