More than 11 years ago, The Village magazine ran a front cover almost identical to the one on its current issue. We felt it worth repeating because the threat to our villages has returned – and this time it is even more dangerous.

I wouldn’t hold your breath if you think anything will be done to improve the entrance/exit into Ash Lane from the Birmingham Road in Hopwood. How many times has this subject been raised at parish council meetings to no avail?

While I am sure the opening of The Lounge is a positive step for the general community of the village of Alvechurch, please do not let your readers be confused as to who is benefiting from this venture.

The right turn for roundabout

I work and Iive close to the roundabout at the Tanyard Lane and Red Lion Street junction in Alvechurch. I see from The Village magazine (Mini island set for U-turn, March 2011) that plans are afoot to remove it.

Following last May’s General Election, many North Worcestershire residents, conscious of plans to submerge Bromsgrove/Redditch under thousands of new houses, may have thought that the threat had lifted.
