April sunset

April has been a generally dry and quite warm and sunny month to date (22nd) with only 26.5mm of rain – which is 44 per cent of the average for the month.

The mean temperature was 9.8C, which is 1.8C above the average, and we had 26.5mm of rain – only 44 per cent of the April average.

There were 106 hours of sunshine to the morning of the 22nd, which was already 90 per cent of the average for the whole month.

Outlook for May: It seems that it will be slightly warmer and drier than the norm but there may also be a return to wet and windy westerlies at times – in a few words,  a normal English start to summer.

Weather Sayings:
The trouble with weather forecasting is that it’s right too often
for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it.
