Autumn colours

Alvechurch amateur weatherman Phil Thomas records the changes.

October has been a mild month with the maximum temperature 1.4C above normal and the minimum 0.7C above normal.

There has been only one ground frost so far (up to time of writing, October 21) with no air frosts and we experienced the second highest October temperature in 15 years of 21.3C on the very sunny Sunday the 12th.

It has also been very dry with rainfall well below normal at 37.8mm so far, which is only 52 per cent of normal for October.

It is very difficult to predict the weather more than one week ahead, but as far as I can see from various sources there will be a settled start to November. The outlook would suggest more fog and frost in the early part of the month with a misty, cold bonfire night.
