Children & Families

With more than 150 children already signed up, the Summer Reading Challenge has started with a bang!

If you’re 12 or younger and think you can read six library books before Sep 23, pop along to Alvechurch Library to sign up. You’ll get an Animal Agents-themed pack – and why not join in some of the events, from a craft session to a reading party?

* On Tues Aug 8 there are two Explore Learning Workshops: the first is “Zoo Adventures” from 2.15–3.15pm, when kids aged 5–7 years can learn how to act as an animal in disguise and create their own Animal Agent name! Please book.

Then from 3.30-4.30pm, those aged 7–12 can join “Agent School” – help find pirate treasure and show off your punctuation knowledge with a Kung-Fu showdown! Please book.

* On Sat Aug 12 there’s a “Design an Animal Agent” Workshop from 2.30–3.30pm. Please book.

* Mon Aug 21 brings a craft session led by the library’s Crafty Ladies. From 2.15–3.45pm, kids aged 7–12 can enjoy making Animal Agent felt puppets. Please book. Small charge of £1 per child.

* On Weds Aug 23 there’s an exciting day of workshops and author talks at Croome Park in Worcestershire, from 10–4pm – including a special visit from award-winning author Joanna Nadin.

* Finally, on Tues Aug 29 the library hosts a Reading Party from 2.30–4.30pm – bring a comfy cushion or pillow and the team will help you find a great book to snuggle up with.

Cold drink and snack provided for kids. Great event for reluctant readers or those stuck on what to read next. 80p per child.
