A local optician found itself in the spotlight when its eyewear was modelled by the cast of Hustle.

Eye Opticians in Barnt Green was approached by the BBC to supply glasses and sunglasses for series eight of the hit show, which is filmed in Birmingham and is currently being aired on BBC1.

Main cast members Robert Vaughn, Robert Glenister, Adrian Lester, Matt Di Angelo and Kelly Adams, plus guest stars such as Paterson Joseph and Phil Cornwell, can be seen sporting a variety of designer frames by Tom Ford, Tom Davies Bespoke, Lindberg Rimless,‘EM Eyewear of Italy and sunglasses by icBerlin – all of which are available at Eye Opticians.

For the previous series, Eye Opticians was approached by Hustle’s costume designer to create a pair of glasses especially for Robert Vaughn – and the producers were so impressed that they asked proprietor and optician Shafik Haji to supply all the eyewear for the current series.

“It was a pleasure working with everyone from Hustle; they were all genuine people and we had a lot of fun putting together different looks,” said Shafik.

“The characters are professional con artists, and they are often seen in disguise – so different pairs of glasses are essential.

“As the photos show, a new pair of frames can give you a completely new look – but you don’t have to be a TV star to enjoy stylish eyewear from Eye Opticians.”
