With its cosy, vintage-style atmosphere, The Potting Shed at Singletons Nurseries in Lydiate Ash is an ideal place to celebrate the traditions of Christmas – and the venue is offering plenty of ways to get into the festive spirit.

The café will be serving special Christmas fare on its daytime menu, starting on December 1 and ending on Christmas Eve. You can choose two course for £11.95 or three courses for £14.95.

The Potting Shed has also come up with an extra-special way to share the magic of the season with its youngest patrons: Breakfast with Santa.

Every Saturday and Sunday in December, plus Christmas Eve, the café will be serving breakfast with party games, a festive sing-along, and of course the appearance of Santa – and his wife!

Children will be greeted by Santa’s Little Helpers and taken on a short journey by horse and carriage, before posting their letters to the North Pole and receiving a gift from Santa.

The experience takes place from 9–10.30am and costs £9.99 per child – bookings can be made on 0121 453 1562 or info@the pottingshed.cafe

Visitors to The Potting Shed can combine their visit with purchasing a Christmas tree from the nursery – and with each tree purchased, one child can visit Santa for free.

On Friday December 16, the venue hosts a Christmas Evening complete with live music and a sing-along to all the festive songs. Three courses plus coffee will cost you just £22.95, and diners are welcome to bring their own alcohol.

Then on Saturday December 17, there’s a Christmas Lunch with carols by the Arrowvale Singers – choose a two-course Christmas lunch for £11.95 or three courses for £14.95.

Meanwhile, the pretty café continues to serve afternoon tea, breakfast, lunch and snacks, using fresh local produce where possible.

The extensive menu features everything from homemade cakes, smoothies and Churchfields ice cream to soup, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and fish and chips.

The Potting Shed is available for exclusive hire, and there’s also a catering service.

There are regular theme nights and gourmet dining evenings, when the cafe is transformed into a stylish restaurant with a menu created by experienced chef Ben Middlehurst.

For more details on all upcoming events, just call in or keep an eye on the website.

As well as plants and gardening accessories, Singletons also offers a huge range of giftware in a cosy shop adjoining the restaurant. You’ll find kitchenware, ornaments, jewellery, local jams and chutneys, greetings cards and giftwrap – plus a selection of Christmas items now in stock!
