Bromsgrove amateur dramatic group All & Sundry is preparing to delight audiences with its annual pantomime, orchestrated by its inspirational director for the eighth year in a row.

Alvechurch resident Alison Berrisford prides herself on presenting shows to a professional standard, with each production more than 12 months in the making.

This year’s show, Aladdin, runs at Artrix in Bromsgrove from Weds Dec 17 to Sun Dec 21, with shows at 7pm and matinees at 2pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

“Alison’s own infectious enthusiasm for what she does is a very powerful example for the cast and a huge motivation for everyone,” says stage manager Brian Wiggins.

“If Alison says ‘jump’ then I simply ask ‘how high!’”

All & Sundry’s all-inclusive policy epitomises the ethos of founder Paul Vollans (another local resident who died in 2011) to give everyone a chance to perform.

This approach can lead to huge casts, and this year’s show is no exception with more than 50 cast members involved, all from the local area, 30 of whom will be under the age of 18.

“The children’s welfare is our number one priority and we’re happy to work with the local authority to ensure they are permitted to perform, as the children are the real stars of the show and the audiences love them,” says Alison.

Her own son Dave has been a regular performer since playing the part of an Ugly Sister in Cinderella in the first mainstream panto staged by All & Sundry at Artrix. This year Dave takes the lead as Aladdin himself.

Alison’s daughter Hayley, a professional singer in her own right, starred as Prince Charming in Cinderella to complete the family ensemble!

“I’ve enjoyed the support of my assistant director and choreographer, Martina Ponsonby (who recruits the panto dancers from her Stoke Prior-based Stage Door Dance Academy) for each of the pantomimes I’ve directed and her contribution is invaluable,” adds Alison.

Each year All & Sundry has sold more tickets than the year before, which has enabled the group to incorporate more spectacular effects and set pieces – such as this year’s flying carpet routine.

To witness the spectacle for yourself, make sure you book your tickets – which are selling fast – on 01527 577330 or via http://www.artrix.co.uk

“We already know what we’re doing in 2016 – so watch this space!” says Alison.
