Young musicians

Now in its ninth year, local orchestra The Midland Sinfonia continues to encourage young musicians by offering a platform to perform.

Held at St Laurence Church, Alvechurch, this year’s event proved another great success with 15 youngsters singing and playing the violin and piano.

And, for the first time, there was a drummer, as 11-year-old Elliott Penn-Ashman from Alvechurch Middle School (back row, far left) delivered a more modern offering!

However, It was Rosa Bennett (back row, far right) who stole the hearts of the audience – having retired from her solo performance due to being a little poorly, she came back to sing a lovely My Fair Lady duet with Mannvi Jain.
