£20m rail plans on show

Posted on September 25 2011 at 3:24:26 0 comments

Rail chiefs are asking villagers what they think of their plans, revealed in The Village in the summer, to upgrade the line through Alvechurch.
The £20 million scheme will create a second line from just north of Alvechurch for 3km towards Redditch. This will allow for three trains an hour to carry an anticipated 32 per cent more passengers by 2020.
It means a second platform for the station at Alve-church with a new footbridge. Most of the new track will be built on existing railway land, although Network Rail says it will “need to take some small sections of land”.
A public presentation is being held at Village Hall on 26 September from 4-8pm.
