Barnt Green rail squeal solutions

Posted on December 06 2011 at 9:08:17 0 comments

The nuisance of “rail squeal” as trains turn the bend into Barnt Green has been eased, the parish council heard.

Coun John Jagger explained that Network Rail had introduced two sets of lubrication technology, one squirted on the track from passing trains and the other from a trackside device.

There had been some teething troubles, but the system was now starting to work. While relieving the noise for villagers, the lubrication also reduced wear on train wheels, saving Network Rail large compensation bills.
