Council’s U-turn on church funding

Posted on May 30 2017 at 3:02:51

Barnt Green Parish Council has made a U-turn over paying for churchyard maintenance at St Michael’s, Cofton Hackett.

Last September, councillors turned down a request for £250, citing concerns about favouring one religion over others and the fact that St Michael’s is not in Barnt Green parish.

However, after appeals from residents who use the church, a second vote saw all councillors apart from Chairman Robert Cholmondeley agree to grant the money as a one-off payment.
