Girls' training

Kings Norton RFC hosted a joint training event for the West Midland Girls Tag Rugby League at their Ash Lane, Hopwood facility.

Clubs in the league along with Kings Norton are Bournville, Yardley and District, Evesham, Kenilworth, Berkswell and Balsall, Shipston, Bromyard, Old Lurentians, Kersley, and Pinley.

Some 200-plus girls took part in the event with coaches from the clubs running a variety of drills for the players to sample. The meeting was completed with the girls mixing together and taking part in competitive matches.

The league plays a form of non-contact Tag Rugby with girls of mixed age groups from eight to 17, and this is the third season that Kings Norton Rhinos Girls have been represented in the league.

The pre-season meet-up also allowed for the league administration to have their AGM and coaches meeting.

Tag league fixtures are made throughout the season with all the clubs and teams meeting at one club to play their games, each club taking a turn as host.

So all the girls in the league meet up on a regular basis and get to know each other well, which makes for a very friendly atmosphere at the events.

If any girls in this age group would like to get involved, contact the club via the website at http://www.knrfc.co.uk – you can be sure of a warm welcome.
