Traction engine at the library

There was excitement at Alvechurch Library when a traction engine steamed into the car park.

Paul Davis, of SE Davis landscaping supplies, in Astwood Bank, brought the engine as a surprise for children who were receiving medals and certificates for completing the Circus Stars Summer Reading Challenge.

More than 100 children attended the medal ceremonies with all the children, aged 4-11, having read six books over the summer.

They also had the opportunity to have their photographs taken with the traction engine, which used a ton of coal on its journey to Alvechurch and back to Astwood Bank.
