Tree ceremony

A much-missed tree that used to form a gateway at the southern entrance to Alvechurch has been replaced, thanks to Alvechurch Village Society.

The original cooper beech had to be felled a year ago after a large bough fell into the grounds of Sandhills Nursery.

The new tree also marked 40 years’ service by village society stalwart Jim Parker (far left), who was was joined at the planting ceremony by other members and children from the nursery, which gave permission for the siting of the tree.
