Trek to raise awareness

Posted on June 30 2017 at 2:55:46

A village resident is to take part in an arduous trek across Oman in aid of Coppafeel, a charity that promotes early detection of breast cancer in young people.

Hannah Morgan (above, right), who grew up in Rowney Green and now lives in Bentley, was chosen for her links to the rural community, where the charity especially wants to raise awareness.

“I’m a farmer’s wife, a member of our local farmers’ club, and active with the Young Farmers Club, so I know farmers can be reluctant to discuss illness. I hope to remove the stigma of checking your boobs, especially in men,” says Hannah, who lost her father to cancer last year.

Also joining the trek in November is Olympian Greg Rutherford, plus 50 men and women who are either breast cancer patients, survivors or have a strong connection with the disease.

Hannah has organised two fundraising events: a “Curry’oke” night at Becketts Farm restaurant on July 21, and an under-7s disco at Bentley Village Hall on July 31. More information is available at:
