Winter warning to motorists

Alvechurch motorists are the “worst in the force area” for leaving unattended cars running on frosty mornings, according to a local beat officer.
PC Simon Albutt urged them to abandon the practice, which left them highly vulnerable to theft – as well as leaving their vehicles uninsured.
“On one morning last year we found 42 cars in Alvechurch with their engines running,” he said. “We will be doing the same walkabouts this winter and if your engine is running we will take the keys out of the ignition and knock on your door.
“Thieves are out there in organised groups looking for unoccupied vehicles and if your engine is running, your insurance company won’t pay up.”
