Reliable trains the priority

I am writing in response to the article “Extra trains for village” in the last issue of The Village.
As householders affected by the proposed scheme in Alvechurch, we were contacted by Mouchel, a company employed by Network Rail, to carry out a survey into the feasibility of this work project.
I understand that this consultation will take approximately 12 months. Roger Hollingworth has said that “the work could be completed in six to eight months”.
I assume that this is after the feasibility study? As regular users, we know from first-hand experience that trains cannot keep to the timetable of two per hour and dread to think how an extra train will work especially when the “leaf fall” timetable is in operation.
I question the costing of the consultation and the work just for one train extra per hour. I personally feel that two regular trains and Network Rail paying more attention to creating good car parking would be more cost-effective and useful to commuters.
