Police are refusing to use their powers
Posted on September 29 2014 at 1:10:07

I am getting sick and tired of individuals in authority seemingly misleading the public.

Our charming village
Posted on September 29 2014 at 1:08:07

The history of Morris dancing dates back to medieval times, and certainly does not have any connection – as your correspondent seems to suggest – to racism or impersonation of black people.

Leave my culture alone
Posted on September 29 2014 at 1:06:07

I would like to respond to the letter in the September edition of The Village that called for an end to the Morris tradition.

Parking menace continues
Posted on September 29 2014 at 12:47:07

It seems that some people are still more concerned about leaving room for motorists to pass than for pedestrians.

Keep on dancing
Posted on September 29 2014 at 12:44:07

When I first read last month’s letter, I thought it might be a spoof letter written by a mischievous local intending to provoke a storm of outrage from “Patriotic and Proud” from Tutnall. Perhaps not, though.

Come and meet us
Posted on September 29 2014 at 12:40:07

I am very dismayed on having read the letter published recently in your magazine regarding the Alvechurch Men’s Border Morris Side and the need to black their faces.

A sad response
Posted on September 29 2014 at 12:38:07

How sad! I refer of course to the letter in The Village entitled “End this Morris tradition”.

On a high horse
Posted on September 29 2014 at 12:35:07

Oh dear, someone getting on their high horse again and not having checked their facts or history, oh well.

A roarsome event
Posted on September 29 2014 at 1:22:11

Thanks to all those who supported the reopening of The Meadows in Alvechurch as a football facility and in particular, a very big thank you to the efforts of Alvechurch Parish Council for the many hours they have spent making this happen.

Look in the box
Posted on September 29 2014 at 1:12:07

On page 66 (The Village, September 2014) you publish a small article describing Operation Christmas Child’s shoebox event.

THE VILLAGE VIEW
Posted on September 29 2014 at 12:07:46

The official opening of the new, improved Meadows football pitch in Alvechurch is the culmination of an eight-year campaign to ensure that village youngsters can enjoy sport all year round – and for years to come.

Thank goodness for barking dogs
Posted on September 29 2014 at 12:05:07

I felt compelled to respond to the letter entitled ‘Gone to the dogs’ (The Village, September 2014). This lady clearly has no basic understanding of the animal, which clearly needs to bark to communicate.

Tradition we fully intend to uphold
Posted on September 29 2014 at 11:59:07

In the 25 years since the formation of Alvechurch Morris, the side has never been the subject of any direct accusation of racism until the publication of the September edition of The Village (Village Views, ‘End this Morris tradition’).

Bright new day
Posted on September 03 2014 at 2:08:43

I took this photograph on the morning after the stormy night of July 17.

Hello deer
Posted on September 03 2014 at 2:00:43

We had some visitors to our back garden one evening: a mummy deer and her two babies.

Messy Meadows
Posted on September 03 2014 at 1:53:43

I just wanted to let you know that the “Sunday Club” is still going on in The Meadows, with under-age drinking.

Bonfire blight
Posted on September 03 2014 at 1:49:43

Why is it that a small group of men in Cofton Hackett insist on having garden bonfires during some of the hottest days of the year?

THE VILLAGE VIEW
Posted on September 03 2014 at 1:42:22

Our villages are, in the main, brimming with community spirit, making them pleasant places to live.

Cycle path plea
Posted on September 03 2014 at 1:02:43

This is a copy of a letter sent to Worcestershire County Councillor June Griffiths and Road Safety and Highways officer John Fraser:

Gone to the dogs
Posted on September 03 2014 at 1:02:43

I wonder if I can get you to highlight a little area of concern for me and my husband, about inconsiderate neighbours who let their dogs bark incessantly.

30 minutes isn’t enough
Posted on September 03 2014 at 12:57:43

As a concerned village businessman, I just wondered if there was anything that could be done about the parking in The Square – i.e. putting it back to two hours as it was before.

End this Morris ‘tradition’
Posted on September 03 2014 at 12:55:43

I was horrified to see the August edition of The Village on my doormat when I got home today. I am not normally one to speak up about such things but the cover shot really upset my family.

Police: We did all we could on traveller incursion
Posted on September 03 2014 at 12:54:43

I write as West Mercia Police’s North Worcestershire Commander in relation to the recent traveller incursion on private land in Alvechurch.
