The last Sunday in November broke records for freezing temperatures in this area.

The thermometer at Alvechurch Weather Station failed to get above -2.2C, making it the coldest day for more than 20 years.

The measurement, taken by amateur weatherman Phil Thomas, beat the previous record low of -2.1C in February 1991.
