Music and dance spectacular
Tickets are now on sale for A Fusion of Music and Dance, the 2017 DMS Heart of England variety show at Symphony Hall on May 7.
The annual concert, which raises thousands of pounds for charities, will feature more than 300 musicians with dancers, choirs and special guests.
Performers include Britain’s Got Talent finalists Richard and Adam and Beau Dermott, the Town Hall gospel choir, and DMS patron and rock legend Bev Bevan who will perform and co-host.
This year‘s show supports the MS Society Solihull and Birmingham Dogs Home, as well as raising awareness for Delete Blood Cancer.

The Phoenix Dance Club holds a St Valentine’s dance at Lickey End Social Club on Feb 18, with Richard Tarver on keyboard. There is a bar and car park.
Dances are usually held in the Bromsgrove Council building at Parkside Hall, Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove B61 0AD, but refurbishment has meant the club has had to meet elsewhere during Jan and Feb.

Family Barn Dance
Alvechurch Baptist Church is holding a Family Barn Dance on Sat Nov 19 at 7pm.
Tickets include light refreshments and cost £8 for an adult, £5 for a child, or £20 for a family (up to two adults and three children).

Free family events in Bromsgrove
As part of Bromsgrove Festival, the town’s High Street will be filled with FREE activities this summer for all the family to enjoy. Here are three highlights:
On Saturday July 2, the town centre will be “Alive with Music” between 10am and 4pm, with performances from local groups, bands, soloists, school and choirs (including Alvechurch Community Choir at 10.30am!)
Then on Saturday July 16, there’s all manner of family fun between 10am and 4pm, when the High Street will be buzzing with the sights and sounds of walkabout acts, pop-up performance and have-a-go art.
And on Saturday July 23 it’s “Beats on the Street”, featuring a tapestry of colour and sound with rhythms from Africa, India, Brazil and the Caribbean to get your toes tapping. Follow the music between 10am and 4pm.

Phoenix Dance Nights
The Phoenix Dance Club has a 40s Night on Nov 7, dancing to the John Harrison Duo, and a Christmas Dance on Dec 19, dancing to Carl Webb. There’s also a New Year’s Eve Dance on Dec 31, dancing to Tony Roberts.

Alvechurch Morris Men are on the look out for new dancers and musicians.
They practise on Mondays at Alvechurch Baptist Church Hall 8.30–10pm, followed by a “debrief” at a local hostelry.
They dance in local towns and at various local and national events, and perform a world-famous (sort of) mummers play in the village every New Year’s Day.
No ability, fitness or co-ordination required – if you are male, 18+ and prepared to spend more time than is probably good for you in public houses, pop along to meet the group!

Aelfgythe Border Morris is actively seeking new dancers (female) and musicians (male or female) to join them for fun, exercise and dancing.
They meet at 7.45pm every Wednesday in Alvechurch Baptist Church Hall. Everyone welcome. Come and play traditional folk music, or try morris dancing.

Fun-filled evening of dance
Sequence ballroom and Latin dancing takes place every Monday evening at 8pm at the Longbridge Social Club, 1012 Bristol Road South, Northfield.

Summer Charity Dance
A Summer Charity Dance takes place on Fri Aug 8 at Longbridge Social Club (1012 Bristol Road South, Northfield, B31 2QU).
Doors open 7.30pm and there will be Sequence, Ballroom and Latin dancing from 8–11pm with “Mr Music” Graham Darby.
All profits to St Mary’s Hospice and Midland Air Ambulance. Raffle prizes welcome.

Learn new moves
Dance sessions take place every Tuesday from 11am–12noon at the Where Next Hub (Unit 2a, Millsborough House, Ipsley Street, Redditch B98 7AL).
Designed for people with special needs, but all welcome – join Nikki and the team and learn some new moves! £7 per session.

Traditional French dance
Afternoons of Traditional French Dance take place at Alvechurch Village Hall on March 9 and May 11, from 2.30–5pm.
Enjoy a variety of dances: bourrées, Scottisches, polkas, mazurkas, waltzes etc. Musicians welcome. Please bring your own refreshments.
Aelfgythe’s Day of Dance
Aelfgythe, the Alvechurch women’s morris side, presents a Day of Dance on Saturday September 29.
The celebration of morris dancing and music will take place around Alvechurch from 11.30am–5.30pm, with dancing at The Crown Inn, The Weighbridge, The Red Lion and Alvechurch Social Club.
The day will finish with a celebration of folk music at Alvechurch Cricket Club.

Women’s morris dance workshop
Nancy Butterfly Women’s Morris Team are holding an informal dance workshop at the Weighbridge pub in Alvechurch on Monday November 14 from 8pm onwards, and are inviting women in the area who might have an interest in learning a new style of dance to come along and join in.
The team dances in the tradition of North West Clog and welcomes women who want to try traditional morris dancing as a new hobby, as well as musicians.

Swinging barn dance
Do you fancy a night of dosey-doeing on the dance floor? If so, then come along to the Bromsgrove Court Leet Summer Barn Dance on July 4.
Set on the marqueed lawns of Bromsgrove School, this will be a superb evening with food and wine followed by a swinging barn dance with music from “The Cat’s Whiskers” band.
All proceeds will go to Help the Heroes, Avoncroft Museum and Friends of St John’s Church.
Kicks School of Dance
