Traditional French dance
Dancing
Afternoons of Traditional French Dance take place at Alvechurch Village Hall on March 9 and May 11, from 2.30–5pm.
Enjoy a variety of dances: bourrées, Scottisches, polkas, mazurkas, waltzes etc. Musicians welcome. Please bring your own refreshments.

Aelfgythe’s Day of Dance

Aelfgythe, the Alvechurch women’s morris side, presents a Day of Dance on Saturday September 29.
The celebration of morris dancing and music will take place around Alvechurch from 11.30am–5.30pm, with dancing at The Crown Inn, The Weighbridge, The Red Lion and Alvechurch Social Club.
The day will finish with a celebration of folk music at Alvechurch Cricket Club.
Not Just Zumba

A unique class combining high and low intensity cardio training, toning and Zumba, for the ultimate full body workout.
Broken down into 20-minute intervals to work your entire body, you will listen to great music, have fun and burn plenty of calories.

Line dancing classes

BJ’s Busy Boots Line Dancing Classes take place on Tues evenings at the Bromsgrove Sports and Social Club, Worcester Road from 7–10pm. All levels are catered for starting with beginners, improvers, and intermediates. Stay for an hour, or all evening for just £4.
Also classes on Thursday lunchtimes at Bromsgrove Methodist Church, Stratford Road, 12noon–2pm. £3.50. No partner needed, no special footwear - just make sure whatever you wear are comfortable.
Brenda has been teaching Line Dancing in Bromsgrove for over 15 years and is still as enthusiastic as ever. There is always a new dance to learn and an old one to revive.
She also holds a Social Dance on the first Saturday of the month at All Saints Church Hall from 7.30–11pm. This is your chance to dance to all your requests from the easy to the more complicated, old or new, pop or country. Non-dancing partners, spouses or friends are also welcome.

Zumba fun!

Women’s morris dance workshop

Nancy Butterfly Women’s Morris Team are holding an informal dance workshop at the Weighbridge pub in Alvechurch on Monday November 14 from 8pm onwards, and are inviting women in the area who might have an interest in learning a new style of dance to come along and join in.
The team dances in the tradition of North West Clog and welcomes women who want to try traditional morris dancing as a new hobby, as well as musicians.

The Phoenix Dance Club is holding a 40s Night on Sat Nov 12 at the Spadesbourne Suite, Bromsgrove Council House, from 8–11.30pm. Uniforms optional. Ballroom and Sequence dancing to the John Harrison Duo.

Swinging barn dance

Do you fancy a night of dosey-doeing on the dance floor? If so, then come along to the Bromsgrove Court Leet Summer Barn Dance on July 4.
Set on the marqueed lawns of Bromsgrove School, this will be a superb evening with food and wine followed by a swinging barn dance with music from “The Cat’s Whiskers” band.

Kicks School of Dance

Kicks School of Dance runs every Saturday at The Ark, St Laurence Church, Alvechurch, offering tuition in ITDA ballet, tap, freestyle, Riverdance and cheerleading for all ages.
At 9.30am it’s Babies’ Ballet (two and a half to six years old), then Babies’ Tap at 10am (two and a half to six years). A Dinky Disco follows at 10.30am for the same age group, before Riverdance at 11am (five to nine years). The first lesson is FREE! Tea Dances held by Bromsgrove District Council and Phoenix Dance Club take place on the last Wednesday each month in the Spadesbourne Suite, Bromsgrove from 2–4pm. Admission £2.50 to include refreshments – funds to the Council Chairman’s charities. Make friends, have fun and keep fit!
