Invitation to business lunch
Alvechurch Baptist Church is to be decorated with a variety of Christmas Trees between December 11 and 18.
As part of the programme the organisers are holding a lunch for representatives of the village business community on Tues Dec 13 between 12noon and 1.30pm.
There will be a chance to hear about the Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Plan and meet other business people from the village.
Finstall Flower & Veg Show
The annual Finstall Flower & Veg Show takes place this year on Sat Sep 3.
A fun day out is promised, with refreshments, stalls and games for all ages.
There are cups to be won in all Show categories, and a special cup for children. Schedules are being distributed around the village.
St George’s Day Teas
St George’s Day will be celebrated as usual with Teas at Alvechurch Village Hall on Sat April 23 from 2–4pm.
Alvechurch, Hopwood and Hillside@ Alvechurch WI members will serve tea, delicious cakes and scones and hope that families and friends from the area will join them.
This year there will also be a children’s fancy dress parade at 3pm, open to under-9s. Posters designed by local children for a competition will also be on display.
Alvechurch Baptist Church holds its annual Pancake Afternoon on Shrove Tuesday, which this year falls on Tues Feb 9.
Cheer up a gloomy day by calling in between 2.30 and 4.30pm for pancakes, tea and chat.
Coffee at The Lounge
A Macmillan Coffee Morning will take place at The Lounge café in Alvechurch on Wednesday September 23, from 9am to 2pm.
Biggest Coffee Morning
A Macmillan Biggest Ever Coffee Morning will be held at Rectory Cottage, Old Rectory Lane, Alvechurch B48 7SU on Fri Sep 25, commencing 11am.
Coffee/tea, homemade cakes, bring and buy table, super raffle. Admission £2.50. Come along!

Celebrate St George!
The WIs of Alvechurch, Hopwood, Beoley and Hillside@Alvechurch have joined forces to organise a celebration of St George’s Day.
On Thursday April 23, villagers are invited to attend Alvechurch Village Hall on Bear Hill from 2–4pm.
There will be tea, cakes and scones with jam and cream, made by the WIs.

Coffee morning in Finstall
Finstall Village Hall hosts a coffee morning on Sat April 11 from 10am–12noon.
Home made cakes and coffee or tea will be on sale for £1.50, and there will be some interesting stalls and a raffle.
Any money raised will go to Breast Cancer Research and Hall refurbishment.
Enjoy pancakes at Alvechurch Baptist Church on Shrove Tuesday (Feb 17) from 2–4.30pm!
Also take the opportunity to look at progress on the refurbishment of the chapel building. All welcome.
Charity Vintage Tea Party
A Charity Vintage Tea Party takes place at Alvechurch Village Hall on Sat Jan 17, in aid of Headway West Midlands who provide services for people with brain injury and their families.
Join the Rehabilitation Partnership for a special afternoon tea with raffle and traditional games from 3–5pm.
Coffee for Macmillan
A Macmillan Biggest Ever Coffee Morning takes place at Rectory Cottage, Old Rectory Lane, Alvechurch B48 7SU on Fri Sep 26 from 11am to 1pm.

Coffee and Raffle for charity
A Coffee Morning and Raffle in support of Cure Leukaemia takes place at Alvechurch Village Hall on Friday March 14, from 11am to 1pm.
BBC presenter Joanne Malin will be attending, and you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and a cake for just £2.
Raffle prizes include donations from the Redditch branches of Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys, Muffin Break and Rio Hair Salon, plus donations from charity supporters.
There will also be a small selection of nearly-new children’s books and toys for sale.

Breakfast for Malawi
A charity breakfast takes place on March 1 in St Andrew’s Parish Centre, Barnt Green, 8.30–10am, to raise funds for Medic Malawi – a charity supporting St Andrews Hospital in the Mtunthama region of Malawi – and to pray for the work there.

Beer, sport and music at festival
A Beer Festival takes place at Five Ways Old Edwardians Sports Club (Ash Lane, Hopwood B48 7BD) from June 2–4.
It runs from noon to midnight on Sat and Mon, and noon to 10.30pm on Sun, with five guest ales to sample.
On Sunday there’s also a six-a-side cricket match plus fun and games for all the family, and why not bring some food and join in The Big Lunch from 11.30am? There will be stalls selling various items on Sunday – if you would like to reserve a space, ring Sue Hope on 07970 455990.
Monday brings music from Second City Soul (1–2pm and 2.30–3.30pm). Hot and cold food is available all weekend, and the bar will be open as usual.

Easter Coffee Morning
An Easter Monday Coffee Morning takes place on April 9 at Rowney Green Village Hall, organised by Rowney Green Flower Club.
Between 10.30am to 12 noon there will be bring and buy tables, a raffle to include flower arrangements, and cakes for sale.
Entrance £2 to include coffee and biscuits. Everyone is welcome.
Cocktails and Casino
A Cocktails and Casino Evening organised by Dodford First School PTA takes place on Friday March 2 at The Nailers Arms (62 Doctors Hill, Bournheath, B61 9JE) from 7:30pm ‘til late.
Tickets £20 per person to include chips for the casino tables, a complimentary cocktail upon arrival, hot buffet and a charity auction. Dress code is smart (black tie optional).

The Alvechurch Big Breakfast takes place on Saturday May 14 at the Baptist Church from 8am–11.30am.
Regular Breakfast £5 (one sausage/one slice bacon etc); Super Breakfast £7 (2 sausages/2 slices bacon etc).
Money raised will go to various cancer charities in the hope that by contributing we can help to support people who are fighting this awful disease. Thank you for your support.

Breakfast with Cyrille
Midlands footie legend Cyrille Regis will be the speaker at the next Barnt Green and Lickey Churches Men’s Breakfast on Sat May 14.
Regis scored 87 goals in 238 appearances for West Bromwich Albion, was in Coventry’s FA Cup winning side in 1987, and had spells with Aston Villa and Wolves before retiring in 1996.
Cyrille became a Christian after the death of his former WBA team mate Laurie Cunningham in 1989, and will speak about his life, his career and his faith at the breakfast, which takes place at Kings Norton Golf Club.
