Another £300,000 for hall

A village hall which last year won £80,000 to replace its roof has just landed almost £300,000 more for further work.

The Peace Memorial Hall at Rowney Green has been given £278,000 by the Big Lottery Community Buildings Fund. When combined with a £10,000 grant from the Welcome to our Future Fund and other awards, it means the village of around 200 homes has the cash to create a fantastic facility for future generations.

Among the plans are environmental features which may not even be seen by users, such as water recycling.

The hall was given a new pitched roof last year after winning the TV vote with its People’s Millions bid.

A spokesman said: “In about 12 months, we will have a hall that will be the envy of many and will provide excellent facilities for everyone in the village for many, many years to come.”
