Barnt Green hut appeal hits £300,000

The Barnt Green Scout and Guide appeal has passed the £300,000 mark with the announcement of the latest £10,000 grant.

The appeal was launched in 2004 after the scout hut off Blackwell Road was burned down in the June of that year.

The £10,000 in the form of a Big Lottery Award for All leaves the appeal around £15,000 short of its target of £320,000.

Work has already started on the site and the shell of the new building is in place. Spokesman Michael Docherty, a former Group Scout Leader, told The Village that if all went to plan the new HQ could be up and running in late May.
