Bucking the gloom

Posted on November 19 2008 at 2:33:05

Barnt Green’s high street appears to be bucking the gloom being felt further south with a number of new faces set to appear.

Long-established Bromsgrove law firm Thomas Horton has taken over the large shop-front that used to be home to John Sanders estate agency in Hewell Road.

The Horton name has been prominent in Bromsgrove for 150 years and managing director Matthew Horton says they are keen to establish similar strong links in Barnt Green.

The firm is officially opening in the village in January and aims to make an impact by lifting the winter gloom with a host of special offers in co-operation with their new neighbours.

Elsewhere, the former Style Council men’s clothing shop is now Capella (see feature) offering men’s fashion, while we believe a major bridal initiative is planned for another vacant shop on the high street.

In Alvechurch, it is thought that the prominent shop-front where The Flower Mill was based until it closed down suddenly in September could reopen with a familiar name that has been away from the village for some months.
